Maybelline Hyper Diamonds Eyeshadow Review & Swatches!

Today's product is from Maybelline and it is the Hyper Diamonds Eyeshadow in BU-1. It was released last year during christmas time. It comes with 5 shadows great for party and a night out.

The packaging is very simple, the sleek black and clear packaging enable them to be stored and travelled easier. It comes with a sponge tip applicator with round side and a precision side.

Here is the close up shot of the 5 shadows, a liner black with blue glitter, highlight a very shimmery white, cool tone light blue, cool tone dark blue and silvery glitter. I really like the very shimmery highlight because it is the best shadow i have to pop the inner corners of the eye. I also like that the blue are very unique compare to other typical colours as it doesn't have that green tones in them.

This was the way to apply shown by the sticker at the back and it can create nice dramatic eye look with this palette. I bought this for my prom since i had blue dress. It last through out the whole night with primer. I also think that the liner black shade could be put at the outer V to create a smokey eye.

Here is the swatches of all 5 shadows without any primers, I  love the pigmentation of these a lot and the finishes of these goes really well together. The matte black liner shade doesn't show much of the blue glitters. The texture of these shadows are all amazing and creamy eventhough it is a metallic shadow except the glitter shade is very flaky and have lots of fall out. I think that shade is best applied with the sponge tip.

These shadow any be bought at any drug store for about RM35.

NYX HD Eye Shadow Base Review & Swatches!

Today's featured product is the HD eye shadow base from NYX. This is a base you put before you put on a eyeshadow to help it last longer and make the colour more vibrant by having the shadow something to stick on to. It is very hard to find a primer from the drugstore which can be compared to high ends such as urban decay primer portion or too faced shadow insurance.
It is very hard to find a primer from the drugstore which can be compared to high ends such as urban decay primer portion or too faced shadow insurance. So when i found these i was very excited to try them out.

The packaging is very cute and sleek and i really like it. It comes with a lip gloss like wand and you can directly apply to your lids. It smooth out the lines and even out the colour and great prep for the shadow.
The consistency is lighter than the primer portion.

Here is the swatches. the 2 right are the colour of the primer, it is soft beige with warm undertones. The 2 left swatch is eyeshadow with primer at very left and without on right. As you can see the eye shadow become more opaque with the primer and gives like a metallic finish which is gorgeous.  For me the primer helped the shadow to last almost 11 hours without any creasing seen.

I was very happy with the result of this and i would like to continue using this :)

can be bought at any drugstore in US for about US$ 7.
In malaysia, you can purchase at this website for about RM30.

Canmake Gradation Wink Eyeshadow Review and Swatches

Happy Summer !! :) So today's product is a eyeshadow trio from canmake. This product i got it long time ago in japan and it came out about middle of last year.
The packaging of this is quite nice, I really like the dazzling diamonds flaming and the clear packaging better than the others. It is very small which is great for travelling. As you can see it comes with 3 colours and the shade that i have here is 02. The collection comes in 3 other colours which is 01 darker brown, 03 brown&pink and 04 brown&purple.
I don't like the fact that it doesn't come with a mirror but you can always go to the bathroom to apply ;)

The texture of these eyeshadows are very smooth and creamy which is a great side considering it is a drugstore product. The shadows it comes is a highlight, a cream brown undertone colour, a lid colour, bronzy warm brown and a lash line colour which is a darker brown.

But this actually isn't made for normal application, this palette is made to have easy applications with just one swipe. sorry it isn't focused but the picture above shows how it can be applied with one finger in just one swipe. I do think this is a great easier way for makeup beginners and kids who doesn't own a brush and just started with makeup. BUT i think this isn't great for people who own brushes because it doesn't actually come out with a good pigmentation when applied with fingers and it is very unsanitary ehich can cause bacteria build up.

Here is the swatches of the eyeshadows without primer. there is individual swatches of the 3 eyeshadows and a swatch at the very right which is done by the one swipe system. I think if you are at home you should defnately use a brush to apply and blend out the shadows. In terms of pigmentation, it isnt great but it shows a metallic very pigmented feel when applied with primer.

I think this shadows are okay to buy in japan as it is much cheaper but i wouldn't recommend on buying it in other country as it is more expensive. I would also recommend to apply with BRUSHES!

Rimmel Match Perfection Ultra Creamy Compact Powder Review & Swatches

Today's product is a Rimmel product and it is in the match perfection line. This is one of the first powders i have used. It claims A super-blendable and lightweight formula with smart tone TM technology that clevery adapts to you skin's natural colour and tone. Lasts up to 14 hours. I picked this up at my local drugstore when it first came out.

The packaging of this is quite nice and sleek. it protects the powder really well and has a small mirror  under the compact with the sponge. I wish they put the mirror on top so that you don't have to flip it everytime you use it. The sponge provided is almost like the foundation sponge and i like to use it with a brush better as it gives more better finish.

My shade is in 103 True Ivory and it match with my tanned asian skin tone perfectly. The powder is finely milled and it have that smooth creamy texture as it claims. But i was sure if it lasts for 14 hours. I love the finish it gives it is a semi matte finish and it looks so natural on the skin but still have good coverage and even out the skin tone. This can be used as a setting powder on top of a liquid foundation but if you have good skin you can absolutely get away with applying just moisturizer and this and it would still look so beautiful.
In the end, i LOVE this powder. My friend once told me "your skin looks flawless" which made me so happy and it was the fist time someone ever said that to me!

This can be bought at any drug store which sells Rimmel and it was about RM 30 and 6 pounds

Canmake Powder Eyeliner Review & Swatches!!

Today's product is another canmake product called powder eyeliner. I think many canmake products will be up this week so i can finish my collection of canmake stuff :)
It is a matte black eyeliner/eye shadow great for smudging the line and adding colour in the lower lash line.

I think the packaging looks cute as usual although it can be a little cheap. It comes with a tiny brush for the line which is made from synthetic bristles and it is soft. I think this is the best brush to apply this product because it picks up the right amount and it lines with good pigmentation.

The texture of these weren't as good as i expected because usually canmake products are very soft and creamy and very pigmented. However, this was more hard and not that pigmented which might be good for younger girls who doesn't want to have harsh line or smudging another liner.

So here is the swatches, the right 2 is applied with my fingers the very right is a light handed swatch and the next is heavy hand. As you can see it is a little patchy to use as a eyeshadow and not very pigmented. The left 2 is done with the brush that comes with it and it picks up good pigment and works as a great liner. The very left swatch is used wet and it picks up a lot of pigment and gives a intense black line. These line can be drawn more thin and precisely.

I think this is a average product, I wouldn't recommend it to a makeup geeks but i think it is good for starters and people who doesn't like intense line.

It retails for 580 yen which is about $6US

Canmake Eyeshadow Base Swatches and Review!

It's already June !! Today's product is a eye primer from canmake. Sorry for the finger prints i forgot to take a picture before i use it. The canmake website claims that it helps to make the eyeshadow last longer and helps to give better colour payoff. It is medium skin tone but it is mostly made for Asian skin tones.
The packaging of this is very sleek and compact which is great for travelling but it can look a little cheap for some people although i'm happy with it as it is a drugstore product.

I love the texture of these eyeshadow base. It is first solid but as soon as you touch it, it form a creamy texture and very smooth on the eye lid. It is a little oily which makes it better for people with dry eyelid to pack on the colours but i wouldn't recommend this to people with oily lid.

Here is the swatches from the right, heavy swatch of eyebase, blended out, eyeshadow with primer, without primer. As you can see it has a little bit of pink undertones which helps to brighten the eyes. I think it can also be used to just slightly brighten the eyes on lazy days. Also the eyeshadow became more opaque and dark with the eye primer. In terms of the staying power, I wouldn't say it had noticeable changes.
I would say that this is a great primer to have for makeup beginners and you should try it.

It retails for 500 yen which id about 6 dollars.

The Balm Hot Mama Blush Review Swatches

Today's featured product is a blush from the Balm called "HOT MAMA" as you can see from the picture below there is a picture of  lady with tropical scenery which suggests that it is great for summer !!

The packaging is a cute card board style which is very compact and it is about the size of a business card. I think this will be a great compact blush to be added on to the summer vacation packing list. The one thing i don't like about the packaging is that it can be opened in the shop, I've seen some balm products used in the shop by people. So make sure to check there is no swipes on yours before you buy their product.

The shade of this blush is a peachy coral shade with a golden shimmers. This blush really reminds me of the nars orgasm but in comparison, orgasm is more darker pink with more golden shimmers. I think this blush would work great on fair to medium skin tones and i think the best way to use it is with a bronzer to like more sun kissed glow !!

As you can see from the picture that this blush is very pigmented and I love the texture of this blush!! It is very creamy and only a tiny swipe will get your skin a glowy finish.

Here is a swatch on my hand, the right side is a finger swatch and the left side is a brush (sorry the camera didn't pick up well :( ) But i promise you that it looks fantastic!! But you have to be careful with the application because it can sometimes pick up too much product. The golden sheen on the cheeks helps to also act as a highlighter which is also great.

It retails for $16 to 20 US or you can get it in Sasa in Malaysia for about RM60
                                                                                                          xoxo Love K

Max Makeup Cherimoya Nail Polish Review

Today's product is a nail polish set from Cherimoya!! It is a nail polish line from Max make up. This set is a special edition set which is called boo meets 2012. It is a set of 6 mini sized nail polish 3 of which is boo nail lacquer and other 3 2012 cracked polish. It contain 36ml which is 6ml each.

This is the 3 boo nail lacquer. I think the packaging of these are really nice and cute. The 3 colours shown are in White, Heavy Metal and Black. The consistency of these were okay, it was more towards the watery side. The black and white tend to be a little stripey and they dry instantly which makes patches and harder to paint. But I absolutely loved the heavy metal!! The colour is nice and shiny and it leave a beautiful finish.

The thing I don't like the most about this brand is that they are very not properly packaged. The box was full of scratches when it was brand new and the black nail polish was splashed on to the bottle. I thought it might have broken in the mail but there is no black on the sticker at the bottom and anywhere in the box which came with. Also the pink crack polish were also leaked and it have many pink powder when i opened the polish.

The main reasons i bought this polish was due to this bright neon colour crack polishes. They are absolutely incredible and it is in trend this summer !! It was also the first crack nail polish i bought :)

Well the application was okay ... the pink and yellow seemed to be not really pigmented and when you layer the black so i had to put few coats before the polish started to crack. The thing i didn't like much is that they cracked really unevenly, they always have this one huge crack in the middle and no other small cracks

Here is a size comparison next to a chanel polish, it is pretty small  but i think that is what makes this polish cute. Well i think this was a decent purchase for me since it is very cheap and i liked the colour sellection of this set.

I bought this for 30rm from a malaysian retailer called colours cosmetics malaysia

Canmake Shading Powder Review & Swatches !

The second item of the day is also a canmake product and it is their shading powder. This is the first bronzer i've ever bought. This shade is in 02. It is relatively dark brown but with more orange undertones. I think this  must be used on medium skin with tan as fair skin can look too orange on the skin. The brush is again very soft but very synthetic feel but I prefer applying with a more bigger fluffy brush to blend out the colour well.

The packaging is same as the cheek&highlight, the clear plastic so it can be very cheap but it is very compact and very good for travelling. Also, I wish there was a mirror so i can reapply when i'm outside.

Here is the swatch, the top is the heavy swatch and bottom is applied with the brush which comes with it. I like the fact that it is a matte bronzer so it can also be used for contour, hence the name shading powder. The texture was a little hard and chalky, the application was a little hard because it came out as patches which must be blended out to have this finish in the picture.

I was not very impressed with this product and it was a miss for me.
It retails for 680yen which is $7US and 27rm malaysia.
                                                                                                          xoxo Love K

Canmake Cheek & Highlight Review and Swatches

My first item i'm going to be reviewing is a blush&highlight duo by canmake. Canmake is a very cheap makeup brand and very famous for their quality and price. (although it's not actually cheap, trust me it's cheap in japan)  This was the first item i bought from canmake!! This shade is in 08.

The pink blush is warm-toned shimmery baby pink and would look great on light to medium skin tones, the highlight is off-white shimmery colour. But the shimmer in the blush could be too much and can show the pores. It contain quite generous amounts which is the positive side. The brush included is very soft synthetic bristles which is great for highlight but as it is very small, it isn't great for blushes.

The packaging is very sleek and compact which makes it easier for travelling but the clear plastic packaging can make it look cheap.

As for pigmentation, these were relatively good. The picture shows heavy swatch of them and it shows up clearly on my tanned arms but obviously these can be blended out even more to have natural finish. The white can sometimes look a little chalky unless blended out but the texture of these are really great!! The powder is finely milled which makes it feel like a cream.

These retail for 680 yen which is $7US and 27rm malaysia.
It isn't the best blush on the market but you may wanna try.
